NOVENA FOR OUR NATION

MARY, TOWER OF IVORY, PRAY FOR US!

The Novena for Our Nation Will Follow the Traditional 54-day Novena Rotation

(to make it easier for users to use the prayer all through the year)

The Joyful Mysteries are traditionally prayed on Mondays and Thursdays

(and normally prayed on Sundays during Advent; and from Epiphany to Lent)

The Sorrowful Mysteries are traditionally prayed Tuesday and Friday

(and normally prayed daily from Lent to Easter Saturday)

The Glorious Mysteries are traditionally prayed Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday

(and normally prayed daily from Easter Sunday to Pentecost with an exception: Sundays of Christmas season)

(The difference between the Novena Rosary and the traditional Rosary are the concluding prayer and prayer petitions.

GOD'S WORD

"Just as the Savior, after his baptism and the coming of the Holy Spirit, went forth to vanquish the Enemy (in the wilderness), so you too, after Holy Baptism and Mystical Chrismation, having put on the whole armor of the Holy Spirit, are to resist the power of the Adversary and to vanquish him, saying, 'I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me' (Phil. 4:13)."

(Phil. 4:13)

MEDITATION

by US Grace Force

SUMMONED TO COURAGE

A society increasingly disengaged from the Divine Life has no place to go but down. Definitely not progress, but a radical descent away from our greatest potential. "Tens of millions of unborn babies have been slaughtered; illegitimacy rates have soared; divorce has skyrocketed; pornography is rampant; drug use has exploded; sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS have killed millions; birth control is a way of life; sex outside of wedlock has become the norm; countless children have been permanently damaged - their innocence lost forever - because of the proliferation of broken homes; and sodomy and homosexuality are celebrated openly. America has become the new Babylon"

(Jeffrey Kuhner, Washington Times).

Summoning us to courage, a popular saying challenges us to fight:

"Hope has two beautiful daughters: their names are anger and courage.

Anger that things are the way they are. Courage to make them the way they ought to be."

St. Cyril of Jerusalem in his Mystagogical Catechesis insists, "Just as the Savior, after his baptism and the coming of the Holy Spirit, went forth to vanquish the Enemy (in the wilderness), so you too, after Holy Baptism and Mystical Chrismation, having put on the whole armor of the Holy Spirit, are to resist the power of the Adversary and to vanquish him, saying, 'I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me' (Phil. 4:13)."

"Let us be filled with confidence," St. John Chrysostom exhorts, "and let us discard everything so as to be able to meet this onslaught. Christ has equipped us with weapons more splendid than gold, more resistant than steel, weapons more fiery than any flame and lighter than the slightest breeze ... These are weapons of a totally new kind, for they have been forged for a previously unheard-of type of combat. I, who am a mere man, find myself called upon to deal blows to demons; I, who am clothed in flesh, find myself at war with incorporeal powers."

(Excerpt from Church Militant Field Manual).

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

MEMORARE

Memorare, Coeleste Palmetum 1866

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary,

that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,

implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence,

I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come;

before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate,

despise not my petitions,

but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen

MEMORARE, O piissima Virgo Maria,

non esse auditum a saeculo, quemquam ad tua currentem praesidia,

tua implorantem auxilia, tua petentem suffragia, esse derelictum.

Ego tali animatus confidentia,

ad te, Virgo Virginum, Mater, curro, ad te venio, coram te gemens peccator assisto.

Noli, Mater Verbi, verba mea despicere; sed audi propitia et exaudi.

Amen.

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God

that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.

O Immaculata, Queen of Heaven and earth,

THE ANGELS ACT OF REPARATION & THE PEACE PARDON PRAYER

These prayers were given to us by the Angel of Fatima in 1916,

(incl. Blessed Eucharist prayer from Our Lady of Fatima’s first apparition on 13th May 1917.)

Most Holy Trinity,

Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

I adore You profoundly and I offer You the most precious

Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ,

present in all the tabernacles of the world,

in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference

with which He is offended.

And through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart and

the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You!

I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe,

do not adore, do not hope and do not love You.

Eternal Father, I offer you this Rosary,

by Marie Immaculate Heart in union with her Son,

Jesus Christ's precious blood,

as thanksgiving for all your good deeds,

according to Jesus' Sacred Heart intentions;

for all grace and blessing that will

make us close this beloved Heart

in life, in death, in time and eternity; for the sick; the dying;

for the conversion of sinners and for the souls in Purgatory;

for those who have asked for our prayers

and we are obliged to ask for and the family's intentions,

to You, God, may all lead to your greater honour

and glory and a glorious death for us all.

O most Holy Trinity, I adore You.

My God, my God,

I love You in the most Blessed Sacrament.

Amen

Announce the First Sorrowful mystery    (primum mysterium Dolorósa)

The Agony of Jesus in the Garden    Iesu in Horto Olivarum             (Mark 14:32-42)

(We do the Sign of the Cross      Faith,   Hope   and   Love    which both opens and closes the sequence of prayer)

They come to a place, which is named Gethsemane; and he says to his disciples:

Sit here till I pray.

He took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be distressed and in anguish, and said to them:

My soul is encompassed with sorrow even to death: remain here and keep watch.

And going forward a little he fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it was possible, the hour might pass away from him; and he said:

Abba, Father, all things are possible for thee; remove this cup from me: yet not what I will, but what thou want.

He returned and finds them sleeping, and says to Peter:

Simon, sleepest thou? hadst thou not strength to watch one hour? Watch and pray, pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

And again, he went away and prayed, saying the same words.

Agony in the Garden, Wierix after M de Vos, 1611.

And, when he returned, he found them sleeping again; for their eyes were heavy; and they knew not what to answer him.

He comes back the third time and says to them:

Sleep the remaining time, and rest?

it is enough; the hour has come:

Behold, the Son of man is delivered into the hands of sinners.

Rise, let us go:

Behold, he that delivers me up - is at hand.

Announce the Second Sorrowful mystery    (secundum mysterium Dolorósa)

Jesus Before Pilate    Iesu Flagellatus         (Mark 15:1-15, Matt 27:17, 19, 21, 24-26)

(We do the Sign of the Cross      Faith,   Hope   and   love    which both opens and closes the sequence of prayer)

1And immediately in the morning, the chief priests holding consultation, with the elders and the scribes, and the whole Council. They bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him to Pilate.

2And Pilate asked him: Art thou the King of the Jews?

And Jesus answered and said to him: Thou sayest.

3And the chief priests accused him of many things. 4Pilate again asked him:

Answerest thou nothing? See of how many things they accuse thee,

5But Jesus no longer answered any thing: so that Pilate wondered.

Detail: Ecce Homo,Jean-Pierre Norblin, 1774. The Art of Christianity Collection. AP00005. Used with Permission.

6At every feast Pilate released to them one prisoner whom they chose. 7And there was one called Barabbas who was put in prison with some seditious men, who in the insurrection had committed murder. 8The multitude then came and began to ask Pilate to do for them according to his custom. 17Pilate said to them:

Whom will you that I release to you, Barabbas or Jesus who is called Christ?

19And while he sat on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying: Have nothing to do with that just man; for I have suffered much this day in a dream because of him.

20The chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd that they should ask for Barabbas, that Pilate should rather release Barabbas to them. 11The chief priests instigated the crowd  to have Jesus destroyed.

21And the governor said to them: Which of the two will you that I release to you?

They said: Barabbas.

12And Pilate again answered and said to them:

What then will you that I shall do with him whom who is called Christ?

13They again cried out: Crucify him.

14But Pilate said to them: Why, what evil has he done?

But they cried out vehemently: Crucify him.

24And Pilate seeing that nothing avails, but rather that a tumult is rising, took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying:

I am innocent of the blood of this man: see you to it.

Detail: Ecce Homo,Ludovicus Siceram, 1623. The Art of Christianity Collection. AP00023. Used with Permission.

15And so Pilate, willing to satisfy the multitude, released Barabbas,

and handed over Jesus, after he had scourged him,

to be crucified.

26And as they led him away, they lay hold on Simon, a Cyrenian, coming from the country, they laid the cross on him, that he might bear it after Jesus.

Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me; but weep for yourselves and for your children; 29for behold, there are coming days in which they shall say: Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that did not give suck. 30Then shall they begin to say to the mountains: Fall on us, and to the hills: Cover us; 31for if they do these things in the green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

(We do the Sign of the Cross      Faith   Hope   and   Love    which both opens and closes the sequence of prayer)

33at the place, called Calvary, they crucified Jesus and the two evildoers, one on the right and the other on the left of Jesus.

34Jesus said: Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.

The soldiers mocked him and were dividing his clothing among them, they cast lots.

35The people stood looking on;

31In like manner also the chief priests deriding among themselves with the scribes said:

Others he saved, himself he cannot save. Christ the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe.

38there was also a superscription over him, in Greek, Hebrew and Latin:

THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39And one of the evildoers who were hanged blasphemed him, saying:

If thou be Christ? save thyself and us.

40But the other, answering, rebuked him and said:

Do not even thou fear God, seeing that thou art in the same condemnation?

We indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of what we have done;

but this man has done nothing evil.

42Then he said: Jesus, remember me when thou come in thy kingdom.

43Jesus said to him:

Amen I say to thee, this day thou shalt be with me in Paradise.

44 And it was almost the sixth hour; and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

46 And Jesus crying out with a loud voice, said:

Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.

And saying this, he gave up the ghost.

45 the sun was darkened,

and the veil of the temple was rent of two, from the top to the bottom,

in the midst as the earth quaked.

sed libera nos a malo.

O God, whose only begotten Son,

by His life, death, and resurrection,

has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation.

Grant, we beseech Thee: that while meditating on these mysteries

of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,

that we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise,

through Christ our Lord.

Amen

AT THE CONNECTING MEDALLION

The Rosary is a perfect wreath and we have now reached the connecting medallion

where we through our Hymn, Salve Regina, unite the intentions and prayers.

Spiritual Communion:

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

In petition (US Grace Force):

Sweet Mother Mary,

I offer thee this spiritual communion to bind my bouquets in a wreath to place upon thy brow.

O my Mother! Look with favor upon my gift, and in thy love obtain for me for the protection and provision for the USA and the world.

Petition:

For the Protection of and Provision for the Church, the Family and our Nation.

Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us!

Hail, holy Queen,

Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness, and our hope!
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in the valley of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us;
and after this our exile show unto us
the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus;
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Salve Regina,

O dulcis Virgo Maria!

V. Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genitrix.

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,

R. Ut digni efficamur promissionibus Christi.

R. that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let's pray (for our Shepherds):

In the Name of Jesus Christ, our God and Lord, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul and all the Saints, we confidently undertake to repulse the attacks and deceits of the devil.

O God, our refuge and our strength, look down with mercy upon the people who cry to Thee; and by the intercession of the glorious and immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Saint Joseph her spouse, of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and of all the Saints, in Thy mercy and goodness hear our prayers for the conversion of sinners, and for the liberty and exaltation of the Holy Mother the Church. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen

O Jesus, this is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, for the Holy Father and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

O Holy Mother of Priests, protect all priests from the dangers of their holy profession and lead the stray cardinals, bishops and priests who have failed their sublime vocation, with your kind motherly hand, back to the good shepherd!

Amen

Let us pray for our Holy Father – Pope Francis I - and his eternal soul and pray for the Popes (Raccolta) intentions:

May the Lord preserve him and give him life and make him to be blessed upon the earth and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.

May Thy hand be upon Thine holy servant and upon Thy son whom Thou hast anoited.

Lord Jesus, shelter our Holy Father the Pope under the protection of Thy Sacred Heart.

Be Thou his light, his strength and his consolation.

Amen
