Day 30

GOD'S WORD

'Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect'

(Matt 5:48)

MEDITATION

by US Grace Force

SANCTIFY YOURSELF

Pope Urban II launched the First Crusade in 1095 with the primary goal of the Christian re-conquest of the sacred city of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. So great was the pope's speech in Clermont, France, on that day that the crowd was inspired to cry out: "Deus Vult! Deus Vult!" ("It is the will of God! It is the will of God!"). This became the battle cry of brave and noble knights who sought to recover that holy ground.

In our vastly secularized modern world, the need has never been greater to reclaim the surrendered ground of the sacred. While it was nearly a millennium ago that Pope Urban II challenged would-be warriors to "reclaim the sacred," in our day it was Pope John Paul II, in his January 6, 2000, Apostolic Letter, Novo Millennio Ineunte, who made his clarion call for us to put aside all fear and pursue daring apostolic goals which are rooted deeply in prayer. This is a call to return to our first priority, the Universal Call to Holiness: "All Christian faithful ... are called to the fullness of the Christian life and to the perfection of charity."

The spiritual devastation of the last few decades compelled Pope John Paul II to draw up his master plan for the new millennium. In his plan, he emphasized the importance of "starting afresh from Christ": "No, we shall not be saved by a formula but by a Person." Thus, he called for pastoral initiatives that would focus on "Training in Holiness" and "Schools of Prayer." St. Francis of Assisi affirms this training in holiness as the fundamental starting point: "Sanctify yourself and you will sanctify society."

Pope John Paul II challenges us to consider, "since baptism is a true entry into the holiness of God through incorporation into Christ and the indwelling of his Spirit, it would be a contradiction to settle for a life of mediocrity, marked by a minimalist ethic and a shallow religiosity ... 'Do you wish to become holy?' It means to set before you the radical nature of the Sermon on the Mount: 'Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect' (Mt 5:48)."

(Excerpt from the book, Church Militant Field Manual).

PRAYER TO ARCHANGEL S.t MICHAEL

We always commence our Rosary prayers with a prayer for protection of our Rosary prayer and intentions

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen

Sancte Michael Archángele,

MEMORARE

Memorare, Coeleste Palmetum 1866

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary,

that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,

implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence,

I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come;

before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate,

despise not my petitions,

but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen

MEMORARE, O piissima Virgo Maria,

non esse auditum a saeculo, quemquam ad tua currentem praesidia,

tua implorantem auxilia, tua petentem suffragia, esse derelictum.

Ego tali animatus confidentia,

ad te, Virgo Virginum, Mater, curro, ad te venio, coram te gemens peccator assisto.

Noli, Mater Verbi, verba mea despicere; sed audi propitia et exaudi.

Amen.

THE IMMACULATA PRAYER

by St. Maximilian Kolbe

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God

that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.

O Immaculata, Queen of Heaven and earth,

I renew my consecration to you for this day and for always,

so that you might use me

for the coming of the Kingdom of Jesus in the whole world.

To this end I offer you

all my prayers, actions and sacrifices of this day.

THE ANGELS ACT OF REPARATION & THE PEACE PARDON PRAYER

These prayers were given to us by the Angel of Fatima in 1916,

(incl. Blessed Eucharist prayer from Our Lady of Fatima’s first apparition on 13th May 1917.)

Most Holy Trinity,

Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

I adore You profoundly and I offer You the most precious

Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ,

present in all the tabernacles of the world,

in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference

with which He is offended.

And through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart and

the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You!

I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe,

do not adore, do not hope and do not love You.

Eternal Father, I offer you this Rosary,

by Marie Immaculate Heart in union with her Son,

Jesus Christ's precious blood,

as thanksgiving for all your good deeds,

according to Jesus' Sacred Heart intentions;

for all grace and blessing that will

make us close this beloved Heart

in life, in death, in time and eternity; for the sick; the dying;

for the conversion of sinners and for the souls in Purgatory;

for those who have asked for our prayers

and we are obliged to ask for and the family's intentions,

to You, God, may all lead to your greater honour

and glory and a glorious death for us all.

O most Holy Trinity, I adore You.

My God, my God,

I love You in the most Blessed Sacrament.

Amen

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ    Resurréctio    (Mark 16:1-8)

(We do the Sign of the Cross      Faith,   Hope   and   Love    which both opens and closes the sequence of prayer)

And when the sabbath had passed, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint him. Very early on the first of the week they came to the sepulcher, the sun having risen.

And they said among themselves:

Who shall roll away for us the stone from the door of the sepulcher?

And looking up they see that the stone had been rolled away; for it was very great. They entered the sepulcher and saw a young man, sitting at the right side, clothed in a white robe; and they were amazed. He says to them:

“Be not amazed.

You seek Jesus the Nazarene who was crucified;

he has risen, he is not here: see the place where they laid him.”

And going out they fled from the sepulcher; for trembling and astonishment had seized them; and they said nothing to any one, for they were afraid.

 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by his own authority.

“you shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit has come upon you,

and you shall be my witnesses, both in Jerusalem and to the end of the earth.”

And when he had said these things, as they beheld, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said,

”why stand looking towards heaven?

This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven,

shall so come in like manner as you saw him go into heaven.”

And when the day of Pentecost had fully come, the disciples were all together at the same time.

And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a rushing, violent blast, and filled the whole house where they were sitting; and there appeared to them tongues like fire distributing themselves, and it sat on each one of them; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

All were astonished, saying:

”And how hear we, each one in our own language?

How hear we them speaking in our own tongues,

the mighty works of God?

But we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those that have fallen asleep, that you sorrow not as the rest also who have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,

so also those that have fallen asleep, will God through Jesus bring with him. …

the Lord himself, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel,

and with the trumpet of God, shall descend from heaven,

and the dead in Christ shall arise first …

to meet the Lord in the air. so shall we always be with the Lord.

So then comfort one another in these words.

And a great sign appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars;

And I heard a voice from heaven like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder; and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps.

And they sung a new song before the throne, and before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one was able to learn the song, …

And in their mouth was found no guile;

for they are blameless.

Spiritual Communion:

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

In petition (US Grace Force):

Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us!

Hail, holy Queen,

Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness, and our hope!
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in the valley of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us;
and after this our exile show unto us
the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus;
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Salve Regina,

Vita, dulcedo et spes nostra, salve.

Ad te clamámus, éxsules fílii Evae.

Ad te suspirámus geméntes et flentes in hac lacrimárum valle.

+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen

+ In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti, Amen

Let's pray (for our Shepherds):

In the Name of Jesus Christ, our God and Lord, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul and all the Saints, we confidently undertake to repulse the attacks and deceits of the devil.

O God, our refuge and our strength, look down with mercy upon the people who cry to Thee; and by the intercession of the glorious and immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Saint Joseph her spouse, of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and of all the Saints, in Thy mercy and goodness hear our prayers for the conversion of sinners, and for the liberty and exaltation of the Holy Mother the Church. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen

O Jesus, this is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, for the Holy Father and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

O Holy Mother of Priests, protect all priests from the dangers of their holy profession and lead the stray cardinals, bishops and priests who have failed their sublime vocation, with your kind motherly hand, back to the good shepherd!

Amen

Let us pray for our Holy Father – Pope Francis I - and his eternal soul and pray for the Popes (Raccolta) intentions:

May the Lord preserve him and give him life and make him to be blessed upon the earth and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.

May Thy hand be upon Thine holy servant and upon Thy son whom Thou hast anoited.

Lord Jesus, shelter our Holy Father the Pope under the protection of Thy Sacred Heart.

Be Thou his light, his strength and his consolation.

Amen
